Sony Xperia ZR, according to some trusted sources, is likely to be launched soon. This new smartphone is codenamed as Dogo and carries a model number C550X. Xperia ZR is rumored to hold similar features as Sony Xperia Z, but has a smaller display of 4.6 inch. The smartphone is expected to be powered by a 1.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm S4 Pro chipset with Android Jelly Bean OS as its platform. Other features like 8GB internal storage, 2GB RAM, microSD memory card slot, which can be used to expand external memory, an elephantine 13MP Exmor RS camera sensor and a 4.3 inch screen with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels, are also assumed to adorn the handset.
Sony Xperia ZR will have a whooping 2,300mAh battery that is assumed to deliver a long back-up. Although there is no certain information about weight and dimensions of this handset, it can be said that Xperia ZR would weigh around 140g and will be slightly above 10mm in thickness.
Sony Xperia ZR will be water and dust resistant, like its elder sibling, Xperia Z. This new mobile phone is IP55/IP58 rated, which is higher than the rating of Xperia Z (IP55/IP57). The droid can be exposed for about 30 minutes to 1.5 metres deep water. Though in features Sony Xperia ZR resembles a lot to Xperia Z, in terms of design, it looks like Xperia ZL.
Sony Xperia Z presently costs Rs 35,000 and is blessed with features like 5.0 inch IPS TFT LCD display; Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro APQ8064 chipset well-incorporated with 1.5GHz quad-core Krait processor; 2 GB RAM in collaboration with 16GB of internal storage capacity; microSD card slot for expanding external memory; Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n (dual-band); Bluetooth 4.0; FM radio; 13MP Exmor RS sensor rear camera; 2.1MP front camera; Li-ion 2,330mAh battery; Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system; 146g weight; and Sony customized skin. So the new Sony Xperia ZR would be a striking option if Sony manages to keep its price below Rs 30,000.
