The World Rejoices As Samsung Slashes Prices

The September 12 launch of the fifth generation of Apple iPhone has sent several tech companies scurrying for measures to give edge to their respective competing devices. While Samsung had already slashed the price of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 680 (7.7) by Rs 6, 000 early in September, it recently reduced the price of its two biggest flagship devices. The prices of Samsung Galaxy Note and Samsung Galaxy S II are now down by Rs 3, 000 and Rs 2, 000, respectively. After Cupertino-based Apple launched iPhone 5 on September 12, Samsung announced the next generation Galaxy Note. In fact, they have also started taking pre-orders for the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 with a booking price of Rs 5, 000. However, Samsung recently announced that they will launch and start shipping the Samsung Galaxy Note II (GT-N7100) on September 27.

Taking about its predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy Note N700 originally came with a price-tag of about Rs 32, 000, but given the drop in prices, it will now bear a cost of Rs 29, 990. The first Samsung phablet sports a 5.3-inch Super AMOLED HD display with a resolution of 1280x800, a 1.4GHz dual-core processor, 1GB RAM, an 8-megapixel snapper on the back, and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. The other high-end Android device by Samsung to get a price drop is the Samsung Galxy S II, which is now retailing for Rs 25, 990 instead of its original cost of Rs 27, 990. It shared quite a lot of its specs with the Galaxy Note except its screen size, which is 4.27 inch, and its 1.2GHz dual-core processor.

However, these are not the only smartphones to see a drop in their MRP. Samsung's Galaxy S III is now being sold at a price of Rs 34, 900, whereas HTC's Sensation XE now sells with a price-tag of Rs 24, 4449. The Apple iPhone 5 may not be receiving many rave reviews, but it sure has done some good to the tech enthusiasts of the world who are not Apple fanatics.
