Skoda Snowman could come in three body styles

The Czech auto maker Skoda has planned to launch a new SUV named Skoda Snowman or Grand Yeti which will be slightly bigger than the Skoda Yeti. The SUV will be based on the MQB platform of Volkswagen which will be used in a range of cars from Volkswagen, Seat, Audi and Skoda. This platform will thus be cost efficient and will also enable these brands to share production facilities. Rumor has it, that the upcoming 2014 Skoda Snowman or Grand Yeti could follow the family in terms of looks with the eminent vertical grille and rectangular headlights typical of Skoda. It has also been speculated that the Skoda Snowman or Grand Yeti would not be a look alike of Skoda Yeti but would look more like a SUV.

Skoda Yeti in terms of looks is more like a crossover or a raised hatchback. The MQB platform is pretty flexible and is capable of supporting 4X4 architecture. The Skoda Snowman or Grand Yeti would most probably support a four-wheel drive; however a 4X2 version can also be expected to be rolled out for the Indian buyers who are very much conscious about the fuel economy of the vehicle. Recently the emerging markets like India and China have witnessed an increase in the demand of the SUVs and Crossovers.

The SUVs and crossovers are widely accepted around the globe and this is the reason that Skoda could build Snowman in three body styles; one with a regular wheelbase, second with a stretched wheelbase and the third as a four door coupe version. The technology has made a lot of advancement and there are more and more features being included in the cars today like the start-stop systems, etc. The automakers are making more efficient engines that make SUVs more fuel efficient generating very low tailpipe emissions.
