Good and Bad News: HTC One S and X Getting Jelly Beans; Desire HD Fails to get Ice Cream Sandwich

There’s something of a sad news for HTC Desire owners and aspiring owners. Through its Facebook page, HTC India has finally given a confirmation about the Android update that was expected for HTC Desire HD. The company has put a rest to all the confusions doing rounds about this update, clearly mentioning that the phone is not yet to receive Android 4.0 update.

HTC has sent waves of smiles when the company earlier had talked of Ice Cream Sandwich update to come soon for HTC Desire HD. Not just Desire HD, HTC Desire S, Sensation. etc were also to get this update. However, now that HTC has itself put an end to hopes, seems that the test phases for this update on the said phones did not go as well as was expected while the first announcement was made. The company has been honest to say that the software best suited to Desire HD is Gingerbread. To quote the company’s words, “After extensive testing, we’ve determined that the current version of HTC Sense with Android provides customers with the best experience on the HTC Desire HD. When we consider new versions of software, we weigh a number of factors, but ultimately the customer experience on the product is the deciding factor. We apologize for any confusion this change may have caused our customers.”

While on the one hand, an update news has failed, on the other hand, the mobile manufacturer is quick to announce Jelly Bean updates for the base model of HTC One X and its variants and also for the base and variant models of HTC One S. However, there has been no surprising element in this announcement, since these models were launched with on-board Ice Cream Sandwich. The handset manufacturing giants says, “We know HTC fans are excited to get their hands on Google’s latest version of Android. At this point in time, we can confirm that we have plans to upgrade our HTC One X, HTC One XL and HTC One S to Jelly Bean. Please stay tuned for more updates regarding device upgrades, timing and other details about HTC and Jelly Bean.”
