After Acer Iconia B1 Low-Budget Tablet, more Quad-Core Tabs in the Pipeline

Acer is a well-established name in the laptop segment and with the launch of Acer Iconia B1 low-budget tablet for Rs. 8,000 only a few weeks back, the company has marked its presence in the tablet arena also. Following the same low cost strategy, without compromising on the specifications front, the company is moving ahead and is planning to launch more tablets with 7 inch and 10 inch display at a feasible price of around Rs. 10,000. These tablets are expected to be powered by a quad-core processor, which is an integral part of a high-end gadgets now-a-days.

The company is pretty much famous for delivering a qualitative value for money in laptops and adopting the same strategy, it is trying to grab a good market share in the tablet segment too, which is currently dominated by Samsung and Apple tablets. Since the rivals are offering high-end specs at higher cost, Acer has made low costing its USP. The information has been revealed by the Chief Executive Officer of Acer, Linxian Lang, during a conversation in which he gave a hint towards the expected launch of some quad-core tablets with 8 inch and 10 inch display screens that will be tagged between Rs. 10,500 and 12,500, with a hinted launch sometime this year only.

The company, in order to prove its worth in the market, has gone for multiple operating systems, which include Windows 8 too, but seeing the opportunity in the low-budget segment the company introduced its Google's Android operating system based Chromebook, named as Acer C7 Chromebook, which according to the company is doing good in the market as the market share of the same is increasing, though at a lower pace. Apart from this, the company has also tried its hand in the tablet segment prior with Iconia A200, A100 and the recently launched Acer Iconia B1.

If the company succeeded in its plan of ruling the tablet market with low cost strategy and high-end specs, then it will be a serious threat to the major players like Asus, Samsung, Google Nexus, Amazon Kindle, etc., which are also entering into the low-end segment of tablets to keep their pace with the prevailing competition, although the company hasn't confirmed the processor that it will use for these tablets, either it will be Mediatak, Qualcomm or Broadcomm, depends on the tie-up of the company for the same.
